Behind the Mirror: A Journey Into Authentic Beauty with Paje Honor
There’s something truly magical about gathering on a beach at sunset, surrounded by creative women who share the same passion. Recently, I had the absolute joy of joining my friend Courtney, a talented creative director and photographer; along with another amazing photographer, Nina, for a sunset beach shoot. And let me tell you, it was the perfect example of what happens when women come together to create something beautiful.
Why Collaboration Matters
In a world that sometimes makes girls and women feel like we need to compete with each other, this evening was a heartfelt reminder of the magic that happens when we choose to collaborate instead. Courtney and Nina didn’t just invite me to do makeup, they welcomed me to bring my own camera and capture moments as well. It was all about sharing the spotlight, supporting each other’s visions, and co-creating in a space where each of us felt valued and encouraged.
The Joy of Shared Creativity
As the sun dipped lower, we laughed, we experimented with different looks, and we celebrated the joy of simply creating together. Whether it was capturing the golden light on our model’s face, playing with shells, fabric, and a collection of lens filters, or just soaking in the supportive atmosphere, we all left feeling inspired and connected.
Collaborating with other women doesn’t just make the shoot more fun, it makes us all better at what we do. When we team up like this, we get a front-row seat to how others approach their craft. You see a different creative process in action, you pick up new tricks, and you realize there’s more than one way to create something beautiful.
It’s also about relationships. Networking sounds like a business buzzword, but really, it’s just making connections that lead to new opportunities. Maybe you get a chance to work on a project you wouldn’t have found on your own. Maybe you learn a technique that changes how you do things. Maybe you just walk away with a new friend in the industry. All of it comes from saying yes to collaborating and supporting each other.
So that’s why I’m all in on women working with women. We grow our skills, we expand our creativity, and we open doors we didn’t even know were there. I'm extremely grateful to Courtney and Nina for asking me to create a beautiful makeup look, as well as inviting me on their sunset beach photo session with the beautiful Jaylin!
