Wedding photography isn't something I set out to do within my career. I thrive in small group settings, I guess I'm the ideal wedding photographer for people who also prefer smaller crowds, and I'm super okay with that! I started out doing portraits, boudoir and family sessions and was later asked by a friend to document her wedding. It was an intimate event with under 50 guests and so I said yes! Capturing the love and raw emotions between her and her husband as well as her family and friends was so rewarding and emotional. The day was filled with so many pure moments, so many picture perfect instances that didn't require my direction in posing, it was magical! That's when I decided to add wedding photography to my resume, but only if the weddings are intimate (30 guests or less) and only if the couple has a desire to be documented naturally as the days progresses without an abundance of staged settings. Having an outdoor ceremony or photographing your day with lots of natural light is also something I prefer when taking on clients! Documentary wedding photography allows me to capture raw moments from your day without disrupting the natural flow and energy that's being created between you and your guests. Of course we'll make time to get some beautifully posed group shots, but the best moments caught on camera are the ones that happen naturally!
